Temporary visas

There are many kinds of temporary (nonimmigrant) visas, depending on your purpose for coming to the United States. There are different stays associated with different visas, from a couple of months to several years. For most of them, it is necessary to show that you are maintaining a residence in your home country to which you plan to return.

Visas are issued abroad at a US consulate or embassy and allow you to enter the United States. Once here, however, it is possible in most cases to switch to a different status if your situation changes.

Here are some of the nonimmigrant statuses our office assists with:

H-1B Professional worker
H-2B Temporary/seasonal worker
L Intracompany transferee
R Religious worker

Visiting
B-1/B-2 Visitor for Business/Pleasure
